Peter Smith is a visionary creative director and educator who is deeply passionate about fostering creativity and innovation in the field of design with a rich background in graphic design communications, our distinguished Advisory of Education.

Peter studied graphic design at the Royal College of Art. His areas of expertise include semiotics, alphabet design, typographic design, and creating design systems. He is particularly drawn to the highly public and social nature of graphic design, which often involves mass communication issues and the exploration of appropriate methods of delivery.  

Throughout his career, Peter has garnered recognition for his outstanding work, earning awards from esteemed institutions such as the New York Art Directors Club, and the Minerva Award for visual identity design. His dedication to nurturing young talent is evident in his mentoring of students like Geli Luna, whose exceptional brand identity concept earned her a D&AD Graphite Pencil.

As an educator, Peter has lectured at institutions including De Montfort University, Central Saint Martins, University of Plymouth, Ravensbourne University, Middlesex University, and University of Westminster. He has also served as Principal Lecturer and Course Leader for the MA Communication Design course at the University of Westminster and Ravensbourne University. Peter's courses reflect the multidisciplinary nature of contemporary communications, integrating key subject disciplines in visual communication to prepare students for high-level professional practice.

In addition to his academic roles, Peter is an enthusiastic creative director who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and students to develop strong ideas. His role as a visiting lecturer for the MRes Communication Design course at the Royal College of Art exemplifies his commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity, particularly evident in his involvement in projects such as 'Dis/connect: Communication in the age of isolation.'
